Eurycea lucifuga (State Status: S1; critically imperiled)
Description
Only found in extreme northeast Mississippi. They can be found in caves, rocky streams, sloped woodlands, often near caves or rocky outcrops (Powell et al., 2016). Orange or reddish, many spots on dorsum and tail.
Identifying Traits
- Primarily orange or reddish skin
- Many dark spots not forming bar on tail (separates from Long-tailed Salamander)

Habitat
Rocky, often sloped streamsides, caves and cave openings, woodlands and outcrops near caves (Powell et al., 2016)
Behavior
Can take shelter under rocks and logs
Diet
Various small invertebrates
