Gastrophryne carolinensis
Description
These small, brown or gray frogs are found throughout the state. This species is the only member of Family Microhylidae in Mississippi. No other frogs resemble their body morphology. Gastrophryne carolinensis is small and only about an inch in length. They can be heard calling in various bodies of water in natural and urban areas. Their call is similar to the sound of a sheep.

Habitat
Nearly any body of water to breed, urban areas, forests, prairies, barrier islands (Powell et al., 2016)
Behavior
Calling sounds very similar to a bleating lamb. Males will call in all kinds of bodies of water
